Thinking about Heaven
Set your sights on the realities of heaven . . . Colossians 3:1 NLT
Ever wonder what heaven is like? Paul instructs us to “think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth” (v. 2). We are earth bodies. Earth is the only world we have ever known. It is not natural to spend our time thinking about a place where we have never been.
So why should we think about heaven? It is where, through the grace of God, we will inhabit eternity. Did you ever make a hotel reservation over the internet? Certainly, I want to know what it looks like and what I can expect. A hotel is for one night. Heaven is for eternity.
Focusing on our long-term home helps conform our present actions to the will of Christ. We should ask, “Does this activity jeopardize my reservation in heaven?”
It is in heaven that a great reunion will take place. Not only will we meet the saints of all ages, but also, we will be reunited with those who recently died, those for whom our hearts ache every day. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain” (Revelations 21:4).
Heaven will be more beautiful than anything we have ever imagined! “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them” (Revelations 21:3).

- The projects this year on campus, including fencing, electrical work, and two decks that need repaired or rebuilt.
Home Mission Board
- The Mountain View Church of God (Holiness) and new pastors Matt and Leandra Martin and their three children.
Foundation Board
- Wisdom for the Foundation to know how to most effectively strengthen and support the Church of God (Holiness) with the resources they manage.
Kansas Christian College Board of Trustees
- The advancement team and that God would bring new donors and financial partners to the school.
World Mission Board
- Haiti:
- National Director, Jeudilus Noel. Due to severe civil unrest in some areas, the ministry is taking place under difficult circumstances.
- For churches and a school to be able to resume their activities as before at Bonnette and Boston City.
- The Haiti Foodbank, a feeding program for school-age children.
My Local Church
- Children that attend my church and our ministry to them (1 Timothy 4:12, Matthew 18:10).
