The Bible says, “Come to Christ who is the living Cornerstone.” (1 Peter 2:4–6) Cornerstone may be defined as “the chief foundation on which something is constructed or developed.” Christ truly is the “living Cornerstone” of our lives. He is the chief reference point for all Christians. He is the purpose for the existence of our local church. For this reason we are proud to bear the name “Cornerstone Church of God (Holiness).” It is our desire to honor Him in all that we do or say.

Our personal commitment to Jesus Christ influences all that we do at Cornerstone. This is reflected in our mission statement which says:

Because of this mission we endeavor to minister to all age groups in a significant manner. The children as well as the aged are given special attention because all people regardless of age, ethnicity, education or status in life are precious in the eyes of God. When you come to Cornerstone this will be very noticeable.

Our worship of God and our love for each other is expressed in our enthusiastic worship, our energizing fellowship, and our eagerness to learn more about God. Our services are filled with the music of praise that glorifies the Lord. The relevant preaching of God’s Word is an essential element of our services, as we seek to help you find God’s will for your daily life.

Our growing church offers a wide variety of activities that are both Christ-centered and fun for you and your family. To put it in a nutshell Cornerstone has a lot to offer.

Pastor Jon came to lead a small group of dedicated Christians who were meeting in a home in Covina, CA. Under his diligent leadership the people were able to locate and purchase a beautiful church property in Pomona, CA. This debt free property in which they now worship has proved to be a blessing allowing the congregation to flourish. People who have come to visit the church have fallen in love with Pastor Jon and his vibrant wife Becky. As a team they have worked tirelessly and have been rewarded by continuous growth.

Not only does Pastor Jon excel in the preaching of God’s Word but he also has proven to be an excellent pastor who cares selflessly for the people of his congregation.

Pastor Jon has a M.A. in Pastoral Leadership which he earned at Indiana Wesleyan University. He is a fun loving young man who loves to ride his motorcycle, drive his Corvette, and play basketball.

Their children, Joshua & Emily, love the Lord and volunteer much time to help Pastor Jon & Becky in ministry at Cornerstone.

Statement ofFaith.

A wooden cross with lilies, tulips, and gold cloth in the Cornerstone sanctuary.
  1. We accept the Bible as God’s revelation of truth to man. It was inspired by the Holy Spirit completely and without error. It is our sole authority for faith and practice.
  2. We believe the Bible teaches there is one God who is eternal, self-existing, holy, all powerful, all knowing, everywhere present, good, just, truthful, merciful and loving. God is partially revealed in nature and fully revealed in Jesus Christ. The Bible reveals God as a Trinity; one essence and three persons.
  3. We worship God our Father who is not willing that any should perish, but that all should be saved.
  4. We worship God the Son who has always existed along with the Father and the Spirit. We believe that Christ took upon Himself a human body and was born of the virgin Mary. We believe He lived a sinless life and died for the sins of the world. He rose from the dead and ascended back to Heaven where He intercedes for us.
  5. We worship God the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin and enables sinners to repent and believe the gospel. He brings salvation to the believer and leads him into all truth.
  6. We believe the Bible teaches man is sinful by nature and is in need of salvation. We must repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. We are forgiven by the grace of God in response to our faith in Christ. We are also brought to spiritual life by the work of the Holy Spirit.
  7. The Spirit brings assurance to our hearts that we have been adopted into the family of God and His abiding presence enables us to live with victory over willful sin. As we cooperate with the Holy Spirit we have security in Christ.
  8. We believe the Bible teaches Christians are to be separate from the world. Our philosophy, priorities, attitudes, conversation, entertainment, and appearance should be in conformity to God’s standard. We will often be out of conformity with the world.
  9. We believe the Bible commands all believers to be baptized in water as an outward testimony of salvation. We further believe that all Christians are exhorted to participate in the Lord’s Supper.
  10. We believe the Bible teaches one universal church composed of all who are genuinely saved. Christ is the head of the church and through His power the church is triumphant over the world, the flesh, and the devil.
  11. We further believe that every believer should participate in a local congregation. Under Christ we recognize the offices of pastor and deacon in the local church.
  12. We believe the Bible promises complete cleansing from the inner nature of sin enabling us to love God with all our heart and our neighbor as ourselves. This work of the Holy Spirit is referred to as entire sanctification or Christian holiness and this deeper relationship with God is possible in this life because of the provision of Christ.
  13. We believe the Bible promises a literal return of Jesus Christ. All men will be resurrected, all men will be judged and the sinner will be forever punished in hell while the Christian will be forever praising God in heaven.
