Higher Ground

Am I ashamed of the gospel of Christ? At times in my life I remained silent when I should have spoken up. A philosophy professor was ridiculing Paul’s conversion story. The class was laughing hilariously. I couldn’t think of a way to stop this blasphemy when another student asked the simple question, “How can you prove that didn’t happen?” The laughter stopped. The professor was silent. I may not have been ashamed, but I certainly wasn’t equipped to confront the opposition.

The gospel is worth standing up for and adds eternal value to our human life. Through the gospel comes the power of forgiveness and redemption. Sometimes our memory dims of what we were before we were changed by the power of God. Think back to your pre-salvation days and be grateful that the gospel brought forgiveness from sin!

The gospel also provides adoption into the family of God. One of the most beautiful acts of God or man is the act of adoption. Adoption is where we go from being “nobody with nuthin’” to being somebody with everything! Adoption makes us a full participant in family!

Finally, the gospel gives us the key to eternal life in heaven! Jesus is preparing a place for us. It is now under construction and will be better than we can even imagine! Thank God for the gospel!
